Created to create...
I'm Loubel (Louise Isabel), artist, designer and founder of Haven Creative. My work grows from a lifelong love of gardens, beautiful spaces, coastal landscapes, and the quiet rhythm of nature—along with a deep belief that our surroundings have the power to shape how we feel.
Whether I'm painting, creating surface pattern collections, shaping gardens and interiors, or restoring forgotten pieces, I'm always drawn to the same thing: uncovering beauty that already exists and inviting others to see it too.
I believe beauty has the power to affirm, encourage and uplift. Every piece I create is an invitation to slow down, notice the extraordinary in the ordinary, and reconnect with the places and stories that make us feel at home. That's the heart of Haven Creative — creating work that feels like coming home.
To Affirm, Encourage and Uplift!
Nothing is ever truly wasted; sometimes it simply needs to be seen differently
Before becoming a full-time artist, I spent more than twenty years working in social work, community psychology and education, helping people discover their strengths, deepen their sense of belonging, and see new possibilities for their lives.
My work focused on empowerment, identity, and belonging, often with those who found themselves on the edges of the mainstream.
I loved creating programmes that made space for stories to be told, confidence to grow, and new possibilities to take root. Those years gave me an understanding that I now bring into my art: that transformation begins when we notice what’s already there, waiting to be seen in a new light.
Whether I'm painting, designing interiors, designing gardens with my husband, restoring forgotten furniture, or creating a new surface pattern collection I'm continually drawn to the possibility of renewal.
I'm endlessly fascinated by what I call micro awe—those tiny moments of beauty we so often rush past: light filtering through seed heads, footprints disappearing with the tide, or the intricate architecture of wild flowers.
These quiet observations become the starting point for many of my paintings and pattern collections. Our wrap-around garden is a living canvas, full of texture and life, while our home is a patchwork of colour, natural finds and pre-loved treasures that each tell their own story.
Everyday life, much like art, continues to remind me that beauty isn't a luxury—it's something that quietly shapes our wellbeing, our sense of belonging, and the way we experience the world. My hope is to create work that feels like coming home.
Subscribe to the Monthly 'Seed of Intention' Bulletin
Each month, I share a little moment of intention – a beautifully designed, magazine-style A4 PDF that you can keep close, perhaps on your fridge, or tucked somewhere special. It’s a small pause, a gentle reminder that the choices we make, however simple, ripple out into our days and our hearts.
Every bullet point is marked with one of my hand-drawn seeds, a tiny emblem of growth and possibility — a motif that often appears in my artwork.
